Dear creator!
I'm so excited to be working with you for this challenge! I'll start off by linking examples of past letters I've written here and here. Almost all of what's in those letters applies here unless otherwise noted!
I'm going to copy and paste some stuff from other "dear author" letters of mine:
What I Love: I love ambiguous/happy for now/sad endings (though I am not opposed to happy endings in the slightest). I love things that make me think, and are not necessarily tied up with a neat pretty bow.
I love characters dealing with mortality (of their careers or their lives). I also dig found family/families of choice, pining, minor miscommunication, undercover as married, mistaken for dating, pretend dating, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers, friends to lovers, poly/poly-v relationships, popular clichéd tropes inverted (i.e. gay for you, married in Vegas, A/B/O, soulmates/soulmate marks, etc), meet-cutes/meet-uglies, and epistolary/use of social media pastiche (use of fake texts, tweets, facebook posts, emails, and more. I loved this show in high school and would adore anything with these characters. There are clips and full episodes available on Youtube if you're interested in checking it out.
As for requests, I'd love something set in the future, perhaps present day. How are the characters dealing/coping/etc. in the present? Are they still working together? Are they still friends? Have they married, separated, moved on?
Or maybe something fantastical is more up your alley (like Sinking Ship or Space)? Maybe they end up in the past or in the future. Maybe they end up swapping bodies, or they all wake up as cats, or trapped in a snowglobe!
I'm really not picky! I love this show and will love whatever you write about the characters.
Lisa Miller/Dave Nelson — If you feel inclined, give me future!fic starring Dave and Lisa. Did they get back together? If so, what's their life like these days? Do they have kids? Are they still working? Retired? Still working for the radio station, or in some other field?
Matthew Brock/Bill MacNeal — I'd love something where Matthew isn't even aware he has a thing for Bill but everyone else knows and tries unsuccessfully to get them together.
Dave Nelson & Lisa Miller & Jimmy James & Bill MacNeal & Joe Garrelli & Matthew Brock & Beth — Ensemble fic, perhaps post-series or something in the vein of Space or Sinking Ship? The goofier the better.
Lisa Miller & Catherine Duke & Beth — Lisa, Catherine, and Beth have a ladies' night out at the ballpark. Give me baseball nerd Lisa, surprisingly vulgar heckler Catherine, and/or crowd favorite Beth. I just want something with the girls having fun together.
Catherine Duke/Joe Garrelli — Catherine finally agrees to go out with Joe (set either before or after she left the station).
Catherine Duke/Bill MacNeal — Some elaboration on Bill and Catherine's night together (as revealed in Bill's letter to Catherine after his death)?
Dave Nelson/Nancy (NewsRadio) — Dave and Nancy broke up for a good reason but I love Janeane Garofalo. I'd love something set pre-series with Dave and Nancy. Write me a little slice-of-life pre-series story and I'll be your best friend.
Dave Nelson/Andrea (NewsRadio) — Andrea (Lauren Graham, pre-Gilmore, turned out to be an unpopular character however! Say Andrea comes back. Give me some cute flirting and/or a romantic relationship between Dave and Andrea. Is there a conflict with Lisa? Are Dave and Andrea suited for each other? Silly/slapstick humor is appreciated.
Jimmy James & Beth — At various points Jimmy acts like a father figure for Beth. Write me five times Jimmy leaned on Beth rather than the other way around. Or maybe set it in the present day, with Beth and Jimmy still maintaining their unconventional found-family relationship.
Dave Nelson & Jimmy James — Same with Jimmy and Dave, Jimmy was kind of a mentor to Dave. Write me a snippet of their friendship. Jimmy was an eccentric guy, write me five times Jimmy said or did something that got Dave in trouble and one time it was Dave who got Jimmy into trouble. Or you don't have to go five things/five-plus-one things. What about Dave's thoughts on the campaign trail when Jimmy runs for president?
Matthew Brock & Bill MacNeal & Joe Garrelli — I'd love Matthew, Bill, and Joe getting into hijinks. Is it possible to write broad physical comedy? Because I'd love that.
Joe Garrelli/Beth — Beth and Joe are both kind of goofy and seem well-suited for each other. Fake/pretend/accidental dating! Pining! Courting! Maybe they have feelings for other characters (Catherine for Joe, Dave/Jimmy/Bill for Beth) and they turn to each other for comfort, falling into a genuine relationship together?
Legends of the Fall (1994)
Tristan Ludlow/Susannah Fincannon Ludow — Tristan and Susannah were the great tragic love affair. I'm not a huge fan of their relationship but I am interested enough in it to wonder about the possibilities...
Tragic reincarnation! An actual Tristan/Yseult AU! Maybe they end up together in the afterlife, or Susannah never died and chose Tristan! I'd just love to see something that captures the fragility and tragedy of their relationship, but showing new facets of it.
Tristan Ludlow/Isabel Decker Ludlow | Isabel Two | Two — Another tragic love story! Isabel Two grew up on the Ludlow homestead. She'd known Tristan all her life. When did she realize she loved him? When did Tristan realize he'd moved on from Susannah (or did he)? Is Isabel Two jealous of Tristan and Susannah? She kind of represents Tristan's chance at normalcy before she's murdered... How does her loss shatter her family?
Or, perhaps... Isabel Two haunts Tristan after her death. Or maybe this is an AU where Isabel lives and gets to see her children grow up. Maybe it's an outer space/space opera AU! Knock yourself out!
Tristan Ludlow & Alfred Ludlow & Samuel Ludlow — I'd love a look at the relationship between the brothers, the rivalries, the friendships... Maybe something that looks at how Susannah's arrival tears them apart and/or brings them together... Or maybe a look at their bond in death, either in the form of a ghost story or reincarnation.
Tristan Ludlow & the Bear (Legends of the Fall) — Tristan and the Bear are linked in the story, to the point they're almost one. Maybe the Bear has some thoughts about being connected to this kid that tried to attack him in his cave while he was minding his own business. Or maybe Tristan is being haunted by the Bear. I'll take anything with these characters, just no bestiality/implied bestiality please.
Susannah Fincannon Ludlow & Isabel Decker Ludlow | Isabel Two | Two — Are they rivals? Friends? Sisters-in-arms? How do they feel about the other when Isabel marries the man Susannah loves? Susannah and Alfred are unable to conceive while Tristan and Isabel have two children right away; how does that affect things?
In the movie, after Isabel's murder Susannah tells Tristan she feels guilty for wanting Isabel to die. Is she haunted by Isabel (literally or figuratively)? After Susannah dies, do their ghosts commiserate over their misfortunes? Or say Susannah lives and looks after Isabel's children. Maybe they're reincarnated or come back as ghosts, or journey to a galaxy far, far away. I'm just very interested in the potential for antagonism, rivalry, rivalry-to-friendship, etc. between these two.
Alfred Ludlow/Susannah Fincannon Ludlow — Alfred and Susannah, what a pair. Really, what possessed Susannah to marry Alfred? She'd planned on waiting forever for Tristan, but ended up marrying Alfred while Tristan was sailing around the world having his quarter-life crisis. Did Susannah think Tristan would never return so she settled for Alfred? Did she actually love Alfred once? Did Alfred coerce her? How did these two end up marrying? And it seems like they have their moments from time to time, but Alfred's main flaw is he isn't Tristan. Maybe write one of their rare happy moments (tinged with bittersweetness of course). Or maybe write one of their more difficult, sad, unhappy, etc. moments. I've just always wondered how and why Alfred and Susannah married.
Col. William Ludlow & Suannah Fincannon Ludlow — Col. Ludlow and Susannah develop an almost father-daughter bond while Tristan is away. Perhaps write something about how they bond while left on their own while the boys are off fighting. Or maybe a fairy tale AU! Col. Ludlow as a king or a bear or a king trapped in bear form! Susannah as a princess or a maiden or a fairy! Whatever! Knock yourself out!
The Woman in White - Wilkie Collins
I had to read this book for a Brit. Lit. class and loved it. I was especially fascinated by its portrayal of Marian Halcombe. Marian's described as unattractive and yet irresistible to those around her; she remains the most popular and enduring character of the book and perhaps Collins' career. (Collins got letters from male admirers who thought she was based on a real person, asking for Marian's hand in marriage!) The book is an early example of detective fiction (that Collins is often credited with inventing) and deals with spying, surveillance, and other mystery tropes, as well as gothic fiction tropes. It's kind of a crossover/bridge between the gothic fiction of earlier generations and the sensation fiction of authors like Mary Braddon, Ellen Wood, Charles Dickens, and Collins.
I'd love something that further explores the novel's themes of sexuality, gender, and equality. Or poly (poly-v) with Marian, Walter, and Laura together and raising Laura and Walter's child?
Pastiche/epistolary format here would be *kisses fingers like Italian chef*
Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright/Laura Fairlie — As stated above, Marian/Walter/Laura is my OT3 and I'm convinced Walter is into both sisters. Give me something where the three of them live happily ever after, with Marian still doing her own thing at the same time. Or give me a scene of their domestic life together! I'll even take OT3 porn (I'll accept minor incest with Marian and Laura, as it's hard to avoid in a threesome scenario, but I'd prefer the incest not to be the primary focus). You could even twist things up with an AU scenario. Transpose the three of them to a noir detective scenario or the plot of a gothic horror novel/movie!
Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright — I also lowkey ship Marian and Walter without Laura. Maybe Marian and Walter have a night to themselves while trying to save Laura from Percival Glyde? Or an AU where it's Marian Walter loves and not Laura? Maybe Walter gives Marian private art lessons that lead to more.
Despite Marian's "unattractiveness" it seems like Walter's definitely interested in her, at least in the book. Maybe there are some "deleted" scenes between Marian and Walter that didn't make it into the finished novel. (Considering parts of it are Marian's diary/letters, maybe she removed those passages, perhaps to protect Laura's feelings? Or to obfuscate the truth?)
Marian Halcombe & Laura Fairlie — I'll take anything that looks at the love between the sisters (especially if it's obsessive and borderline unhealthy/codependent). Implied incest/incestuous feelings are acceptable, but I'd prefer incest not to be the focus.
Flowers in the Attic - V. C. Andrews
Cathy Dollanganger & None — A Cathy character study would be lovely! A passage in Petals describes Cathy a leaving a trail of dead men behind her... Perhaps something touching on that? Maybe Cathy's thoughts about life before and/or after her father's death.
Corrine Dollanganger & None — Corrine's an interesting character. In Garden of Shadows she's entitled and selfish and rather narcissistic, but she doesn't seem like the kind of person who'd go to extreme, terrible lengths just to get her hands on money. What changed Corrine? How/why does she go from loving mother to the selfish narcissist she becomes in the latter pages of Flowers? Is it all because of what she lost and endured? Or was that potential for evil always in Corrine, it just didn't manifest itself until she realized she wanted something more than she wanted her own children? Make me sympathize with Corrine!
Cathy Dollanganger & Corrine Foxworth — Cathy and Corrine have a rivalry... Spin me a Snow White AU with Corrine as the evil queen and Cathy as Snow White! Or Cinderella with Cathy as Cinderella and Corrine in the role of the stepmother/Lady Tremaine. Maybe Hansel and Gretel with Corrine as the witch...
Cathy Dollanganger/Chris Dollanganger — Fairy tale AU, space opera AU... Maybe a gothic horror or noir AU? Or just something set in the book 'verse with Cathy and Chris turning to one another to escape the horror of the attic.
(I would adore a gothic AU though, considering how V.C. Andrews borrows from a lot of gothic traditions. Maybe a sensation fiction or detective novel AU in the style of Dickens or Collins?)
Cathy Dollanganger & Carrie Dollanganger — Cathy and Carrie bonding in the attic. Or maybe a fairy tale AU?
Carrie Dollanganger & None — Carrie often gets forgotten behind characters like Cathy, Corrine and Christopher, and even Cory. Maybe she keeps a diary of her own...
A League of Their Own (1992)
Jimmy Dugan/Dottie Hinson — Maybe Dottie isn't married, or her husband died (instead of Betty's). Or maybe Dottie's stepping out on Bill Pullman. Either way I just need something with Dottie and Jimmy.
There's allegedly a deleted scene that implies a kiss and/or romance between Jimmy and Dottie.
I'm fine if it's just implied/hinted at/between the lines, too.
A Rose for Emily - William Faulkner
I'll take anything, any pairing/group with this fandom, really. I don't really have any specific prompts except for one pair/group.
Emily Grierson/Homer Barron — I remember reading about Carl Tanzler a looong time ago, and after reading A Rose For Emily around the same time, both stories kind of became welded together in my mind. If you could figure out a way to combine the (very very creepy) real life story of Carl Tanzler and Elena de Hoyos and that of Emily (and/or Homer) I'd be forever in your debt.
Will also take horror AUs (zombies?! ghosts?! vampires?!), space opera/space gothic AUs... Whatever you can think of, I want to read!!!
Lincoln Rhyme - Jeffery Deaver —
Lincoln Rhyme/Amelia Sachs — I'd love casefic with Lincoln and Amelia solving a crime together.
Thom Reston & Lincoln Rhyme — Or casefic with Lincoln and Thom solving a crime together! Or maybe just a glimpse of Thom and Lincoln's "friendship"?
Fred Dellray & Lincoln Rhyme — I'd love a snippet of friendship between Rhyme and Dellray. Or maybe a snippet of casefic with the two of them working together? Preferably from Fred's POV.

Le Fantôme de l'Opéra | Phantom of the Opera & Related Fandoms
Erik | Phantom of the Opera/Madame Giry — I'd love a soulmate AU with the Phantom and Madame Giry (you can incorporate ALW movie elements if you wish)! Go wild with the scenario too. Maybe it's a soulmate mark AU, or a first words to each other AU. I'm really not too picky. It could be a tragic soulbond! (And likely will be considering the canon). Or it could be a what-if/divergence AU too.
Alex Delaware Series - Jonathan Kellerman
I'd be especially interested in epistolary fic with this fandom (diaries, letters, tweets, facebook posts, etc.).
Robin Castagna/Alex Delaware — Casefic with Robin assisting Alex or solving a crime on her own. Copious dog cameos are appreciated.
Alex Delaware & Milo Sturgis — Something that takes a look at their friendship (and its longevity) would be nice.

Vic McQueen & None — A character study of Vic... Perhaps set after the events of the book, in some sort of afterlife? Or maybe Vic survived.
Vic McQueen/Maggie Leigh — A stolen moment for Vic and Maggie set during the events of the book or an AU where both survive and end up together and HEA?
Vic McQueen/Lou Carmody — Give me something set during the early days of Vic and Lou's relationship. How did they end up together? Were they happy?
Vic McQueen & Lou Carmody & Bruce Wayne Carmody — I'd love a happy family moment between Vic, Lou and Bruce Wayne because those seem like they might have been rare.

Vic McQueen & Charlie Manx — Give me something set during the battle/climax of the book, between Vic and Charlie.

Charlie Manx & Bing — How does Charlie think of Bing? Why does he keep him around? Bing seems incredibly dangerous; say they both survive the book. What happens to them after? Do things change or stay the same? Is Charlie able to control Bing? Would he even want to? Or maybe give me an AU scenario with Charlie and Bing. Maybe they flip roles or they're transported to the plot of a movie. Maybe Charlie and Bing get cisswapped into women, or they're werewolves? Knock yourself out.

Susannah Fincannon Ludlow & Isabel Decker Ludlow | Isabel Two | Two — Are they rivals? Friends? Sisters-in-arms? How do they feel about the other when Isabel marries the man Susannah loves? Susannah and Alfred are unable to conceive while Tristan and Isabel have two children right away; how does that affect things?
In the movie, after Isabel's murder Susannah tells Tristan she feels guilty for wanting Isabel to die. Is she haunted by Isabel (literally or figuratively)? After Susannah dies, do their ghosts commiserate over their misfortunes? Or say Susannah lives and looks after Isabel's children. Maybe they're reincarnated or come back as ghosts, or journey to a galaxy far, far away. I'm just very interested in the potential for antagonism, rivalry, rivalry-to-friendship, etc. between these two.
Alfred Ludlow/Susannah Fincannon Ludlow — Alfred and Susannah, what a pair. Really, what possessed Susannah to marry Alfred? She'd planned on waiting forever for Tristan, but ended up marrying Alfred while Tristan was sailing around the world having his quarter-life crisis. Did Susannah think Tristan would never return so she settled for Alfred? Did she actually love Alfred once? Did Alfred coerce her? How did these two end up marrying? And it seems like they have their moments from time to time, but Alfred's main flaw is he isn't Tristan. Maybe write one of their rare happy moments (tinged with bittersweetness of course). Or maybe write one of their more difficult, sad, unhappy, etc. moments. I've just always wondered how and why Alfred and Susannah married.
Col. William Ludlow & Suannah Fincannon Ludlow — Col. Ludlow and Susannah develop an almost father-daughter bond while Tristan is away. Perhaps write something about how they bond while left on their own while the boys are off fighting. Or maybe a fairy tale AU! Col. Ludlow as a king or a bear or a king trapped in bear form! Susannah as a princess or a maiden or a fairy! Whatever! Knock yourself out!
The Woman in White - Wilkie Collins
I had to read this book for a Brit. Lit. class and loved it. I was especially fascinated by its portrayal of Marian Halcombe. Marian's described as unattractive and yet irresistible to those around her; she remains the most popular and enduring character of the book and perhaps Collins' career. (Collins got letters from male admirers who thought she was based on a real person, asking for Marian's hand in marriage!) The book is an early example of detective fiction (that Collins is often credited with inventing) and deals with spying, surveillance, and other mystery tropes, as well as gothic fiction tropes. It's kind of a crossover/bridge between the gothic fiction of earlier generations and the sensation fiction of authors like Mary Braddon, Ellen Wood, Charles Dickens, and Collins.
I'd love something that further explores the novel's themes of sexuality, gender, and equality. Or poly (poly-v) with Marian, Walter, and Laura together and raising Laura and Walter's child?
Pastiche/epistolary format here would be *kisses fingers like Italian chef*
Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright/Laura Fairlie — As stated above, Marian/Walter/Laura is my OT3 and I'm convinced Walter is into both sisters. Give me something where the three of them live happily ever after, with Marian still doing her own thing at the same time. Or give me a scene of their domestic life together! I'll even take OT3 porn (I'll accept minor incest with Marian and Laura, as it's hard to avoid in a threesome scenario, but I'd prefer the incest not to be the primary focus). You could even twist things up with an AU scenario. Transpose the three of them to a noir detective scenario or the plot of a gothic horror novel/movie!
Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright — I also lowkey ship Marian and Walter without Laura. Maybe Marian and Walter have a night to themselves while trying to save Laura from Percival Glyde? Or an AU where it's Marian Walter loves and not Laura? Maybe Walter gives Marian private art lessons that lead to more.
Despite Marian's "unattractiveness" it seems like Walter's definitely interested in her, at least in the book. Maybe there are some "deleted" scenes between Marian and Walter that didn't make it into the finished novel. (Considering parts of it are Marian's diary/letters, maybe she removed those passages, perhaps to protect Laura's feelings? Or to obfuscate the truth?)
Marian Halcombe & Laura Fairlie — I'll take anything that looks at the love between the sisters (especially if it's obsessive and borderline unhealthy/codependent). Implied incest/incestuous feelings are acceptable, but I'd prefer incest not to be the focus.
Flowers in the Attic - V. C. Andrews
Cathy Dollanganger & None — A Cathy character study would be lovely! A passage in Petals describes Cathy a leaving a trail of dead men behind her... Perhaps something touching on that? Maybe Cathy's thoughts about life before and/or after her father's death.
Corrine Dollanganger & None — Corrine's an interesting character. In Garden of Shadows she's entitled and selfish and rather narcissistic, but she doesn't seem like the kind of person who'd go to extreme, terrible lengths just to get her hands on money. What changed Corrine? How/why does she go from loving mother to the selfish narcissist she becomes in the latter pages of Flowers? Is it all because of what she lost and endured? Or was that potential for evil always in Corrine, it just didn't manifest itself until she realized she wanted something more than she wanted her own children? Make me sympathize with Corrine!
Cathy Dollanganger & Corrine Foxworth — Cathy and Corrine have a rivalry... Spin me a Snow White AU with Corrine as the evil queen and Cathy as Snow White! Or Cinderella with Cathy as Cinderella and Corrine in the role of the stepmother/Lady Tremaine. Maybe Hansel and Gretel with Corrine as the witch...
Cathy Dollanganger/Chris Dollanganger — Fairy tale AU, space opera AU... Maybe a gothic horror or noir AU? Or just something set in the book 'verse with Cathy and Chris turning to one another to escape the horror of the attic.
(I would adore a gothic AU though, considering how V.C. Andrews borrows from a lot of gothic traditions. Maybe a sensation fiction or detective novel AU in the style of Dickens or Collins?)

Jimmy Dugan/Dottie Hinson — Maybe Dottie isn't married, or her husband died (instead of Betty's). Or maybe Dottie's stepping out on Bill Pullman. Either way I just need something with Dottie and Jimmy.
There's allegedly a deleted scene that implies a kiss and/or romance between Jimmy and Dottie.
I'm fine if it's just implied/hinted at/between the lines, too.
A Rose for Emily - William Faulkner
I'll take anything, any pairing/group with this fandom, really. I don't really have any specific prompts except for one pair/group.
Emily Grierson/Homer Barron — I remember reading about Carl Tanzler a looong time ago, and after reading A Rose For Emily around the same time, both stories kind of became welded together in my mind. If you could figure out a way to combine the (very very creepy) real life story of Carl Tanzler and Elena de Hoyos and that of Emily (and/or Homer) I'd be forever in your debt.
Will also take horror AUs (zombies?! ghosts?! vampires?!), space opera/space gothic AUs... Whatever you can think of, I want to read!!!

Maybe they flip roles or they're transported to the plot of a movie. Maybe Charlie and Bing get cisswapped into women, or they're werewolves? Knock yourself out.
