What I Love: I'm currently really into gothic romance/gothic horror/horror of any stripe really. I also love ambiguous/happy for now/sad endings (though I am not opposed to happy endings in the slightest). I love things that make me think, and are not necessarily tied up with a neat pretty bow.
I love characters dealing with mortality (of their careers or their lives). I also dig found family/families of choice, pining, minor miscommunication, undercover as married, mistaken for dating, pretend dating, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers, friends to lovers, poly/poly-v relationships, popular clichéd tropes inverted (i.e. gay for you, married in Vegas, A/B/O, soulmates/soulmate marks, etc), meet-cutes/meet-uglies, and epistolary/use of social media pastiche (use of fake texts, tweets, facebook posts, emails, and more. This is a good example of what I mean here.)

Lin Mae was honestly my favorite thing about this movie, and I love that she ultimately emerges as the true hero with William sort of taking a backseat to her at the end. I also really liked her relationship with William and while I could easily see romantic undertones there, I love the plaotnic bond they forge.
Prompts/ideas:
◊ What happens to Lin Mae after the events of the movie?
◊ AU/slight canon divergence. Lin Mae and William keep in touch, or come into contact again. How are both faring after the events of the movie?

◊ I'd love something that looks at the rivalry between the sisters, growing up. Were they close as kids, and just naturally drifted apart?
◊ Dottie and Kit don't seem to be very close at the beginning of the movie, due to busy/hectic lives. Give Dottie and Kit a moment to reconnect after the events of the movie. Maybe they reminisce over their careers.
◊ How about a slice of life, showing Dottie and Kit growing up? Baseball seems to be Kit's passion, rather than Dottie's. How did Dottie start playing?
◊ Give me older Dottie and Kit reuniting at the Hall of Fame (the bookend scenes in the movie).

◊ Tragic reincarnation! Maybe they end up together in the afterlife, or Susannah never died and chose Tristan! I'd just love to see something that captures the fragility and tragedy of their relationship, but showing new facets of it.
◊ What about something comparing Tristan and Susannah to Tristan and Iseult, and their tragic romance! Write me an AU where Tristan and Susannah take the love potion from the legend! Or update the legend to the time period of the movie! Whatever, I'm not picky, as long as it's super tragic.

Marian/Walter/Laura are my OT3 (preferred flavor is poly-v with Marian at the center).
I had to read this book for a Brit. Lit. class and loved it. I was especially fascinated by its portrayal of Marian Halcombe. Marian's described as unattractive and yet irresistible to those around her; she remains the most popular and enduring character of the book and perhaps Collins' career. (Collins got letters from male admirers who thought she was based on a real person, asking for Marian's hand in marriage!) The book is an early example of detective fiction (that Collins is often credited with inventing) and deals with spying, surveillance, and other mystery tropes, as well as gothic fiction tropes. It's kind of a crossover/bridge between the gothic fiction of earlier generations and the sensation fiction of authors like Mary Braddon, Ellen Wood, Charles Dickens, and Collins.
I'd love something that further explores the novel's themes of sexuality, gender, and equality. Or poly (poly-v) with Marian, Walter, and Laura together and raising Laura and Walter's child?
Pastiche/epistolary format here would be *kisses fingers like Italian chef*
Prompts/ideas:

◊ As stated above, Marian/Walter/Laura is my OT3 and I'm convinced Walter is into both sisters. Give me something where the three of them live happily ever after, with Marian still doing her own thing at the same time.
◊ Walter and Laura welcome Marian into their relationship. It's unconventional, but it works because it's them.
◊ When a pregnant Laura becomes bedridden for the later stages of her pregnancy, she and Walter welcome Marian into their relationship. Laura directs the action while Marian and Walter have sex.
◊ Give me a scene of their domestic life together! I'll even take a threesome (I prefer incest not to be the focus. I'm much more interested in a poly-v with Walter involved with the sisters).
◊ You could even twist things up with an AU scenario. Transpose the three of them to a noir detective scenario or the plot of a gothic horror novel/movie!
Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright
◊ Walter gives Marian private art lessons that lead to a passionate encounter.
◊ Marian and Walter share one night together while they work on a plan to save Laura.
◊ Marian models for one of Walter's paintings and one thing leads to another.
◊ Deleted entries from Marian's diaries reveal an affair with Walter.
◊ Walter has the obligatory "oh no she's 'hot'!" moment before Marian goes off to Count Fosco. (I'd prefer Marian not actually be ~attractive~. Marian's still ~unattractive~, but Walter is still into her.)
◊ Despite Marian's "unattractiveness" it seems like Walter's definitely interested in her, at least in the book. Maybe there are some "deleted" scenes between Marian and Walter that didn't make it into the finished novel. (Considering parts of it are Marian's diary/letters, maybe she removed those passages, perhaps to protect Laura's feelings? Or to obfuscate the truth?)
Marian Halcombe & Laura Fairlie
◊ I'd love anything that looks at the love between the sisters (especially if it's obsessive and borderline unhealthy/codependent). I'd prefer incest not to be the focus but incestuous undertones are fine.
◊ Marian and Laura take Laura and Walter's child to play at a park.
◊ Marian and Laura have a sisterly bonding moment.
◊ Marian visits Laura before her wedding to Walter.
Marian Halcombe/Isidor Fosco
◊ Anything between Marian and Fosco would be great. Doesn't even have to be shippy!
◊ Deleted entries from Marian's diaries reveal an affair with Fosco.
◊ Marian and Fosco simultaneously attempt to seduce each other.
