Dear creator!

I'm so excited to be working with you for this challenge! I'll start off by linking examples of past letters I've written here and here. Almost all of what's in those letters applies here unless otherwise noted!

I'm going to copy and paste some stuff from other "dear author" letters of mine:

What I Love: I love ambiguous/happy for now/sad endings (though I am not opposed to happy endings in the slightest). I love things that make me think, and are not necessarily tied up with a neat pretty bow.

I love characters dealing with mortality (of their careers or their lives). I also dig found family/families of choice, pining, minor miscommunication, undercover as married, mistaken for dating, pretend dating, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers, friends to lovers, poly/poly-v relationships, popular clichéd tropes inverted (i.e. gay for you, married in Vegas, A/B/O, soulmates/soulmate marks, etc), meet-cutes/meet-uglies, and epistolary/use of social media pastiche (use of fake texts, tweets, facebook posts, emails, and more. This is a good example of what I mean here. So is this, this, this, this, and this).

Prompts: I really love psychologically dark stuff (this is my all-time favorite POTO fic, if that gives you an idea of what I enjoy in this fandom). The stuff here is a good place to start, but I'll throw out some prompts that might get the juices flowing too!

You're welcome to incorporate some of the other canons as well as long as Christine is her canonical Leroux novel age (21) and not underage. I prefer to deny the existence of Love Never Dies.

• Raoul and Christine in the aftermath of the novel. How do they cope? Do they cope? I'm particularly interested in capgras and cotard delusions and how one or the other (or both?) might impact Christine after her ordeal with the Phantom.
• Give me something vaguely Oedipal, twisted, and tragic between Erik and Madame Giry (you can incorporate ALW movie elements here, as they leant on that relationship IIRC). The more gothic the better.
• Or throw them into a gothic AU, with Giry the headmistress of a girls' school that's believed to be haunted. Giry doesn't believe the stories until she comes face to face with a living, breathing ghost.
• Heck, give me the sad Erik/Madame Giry soulmate AU where they don't/can't end up together. Maybe one of them (Giry?) rejects the bond, leaving both to suffer until Erik starts mentoring Christine. Maybe it's a soulmate mark AU, or a first words to each other AU. I'm really not too picky. It could be a tragic soulbond! (And likely will be considering the canon). Or it could be a what-if/divergence AU too.
• Modern AU! Erik is the creepy stalker type you see on Criminal Minds and Christine is an up-and-coming country start he's obsessed with. Cast the Persian as a detective desperate to find her, and Raoul as her agent/lover! I'm interested to see how a new setting and time period might change things for our beloved characters.
• Erik is dead! So why does Christine still hear him whispering to her at night, while she's lying in bed next to her husband Raoul?
• Christine and Carlotta are rivals for the attention of the mysterious Angel of Music, and Carlotta will do anything to get Christine out of the way.
• AU time! Years before the timeline of the novel, Madame Giry is forced by Erik to make a terrible choice: she must choose between saving Meg or saving Christine. Giry chooses to save Christine, and Erik disappears with Meg. Twenty years later, he returns. What became of Meg? Why is Erik back?
• Erik has always loved passionately, obsessively. How do the targets of his affections deal with the spotlight glare of Erik's dangerous, obsessive love? (Madame Giry, Christine, Meg, The Persian, Raoul, Erik's mother.)
• A proper sequel to POTO that isn't Love Never Dies? (Erik's canon demise would have to be hand-waved of course). Maybe Christine, Raoul, and their son move to Sweden, Great Britain, or the United States and the opera ghost follows them... or does he? Or maybe set it during/immediately after WWI and weave in the tragedy of the Great War and the influenza outbreak with POTO canon?

Or, if none of those prompts strike your fancy, feel free to mix and match likes and prompts until you come up with something!

• Bluebeard AU. Veronica starts dating Jughead and discovers he might be a serial killer who keeps the bodies of his victims... who are all dark-haired and beautiful girls.
• The OT4 hooks up at a Halloween party.
• Veronica gets scared watching Halloween movies and Jughead or Archie comforts her.
• Betty and Archie are reincarnated lovers who always end up dying by the other's hand. Can they break the cycle?

• AU future fic. Laurie, elderly and suffering from dementia, living out her days in a home, is visited by her children in the films (Jamie, John, Karen). Is she imagining things? Or are they ghosts? Something else?
• When I was in high school I wrote out the ~treatment~ for a series of sequel films that ignored the Thorn trilogy (after Halloween 5) and focused on Jamie. Several years in the future, a grown-up Jamie meets Tommy and they team up when Michael returns. Anything dealing with Jamie and Tommy, and their adventures would be sweet.
• I also wrote a story that incorporated elements of Halloween H20 and the first two movies of the Thorn trilogy, with Laurie faking her death, moving to California, and having her son Josh Hartnett. Josh Hartnett meets a new girl at his school and they become friends, before he learns that she's Laurie's biological daughter that was given up for adoption (Jamie). Something with this plot would also be cool!
• 30-29 years after Halloween 4/5, an adult Jamie moves back to Haddonfield with her teenage son, Steven. Soon after, a new wave of killings starts. Are Jamie and Steven connected to the new string of deaths? Jamie meets up with Tommy Doyle, and the two start dating before Jamie begins wondering if Tommy could be connected to the murders. Is Michael back?
• A filmmaker is making a slasher flick based on the crimes of Michael Myers, and the survivors of Michael's attacks (Jamie, Tommy, Lindsey, Marion Chambers, etc.) are determined to stop him.
