What I Love:

I love ambiguous/happy for now/sad endings (though I am not opposed to happy endings in the slightest). I adore things that make me think, and are not necessarily tied up with a neat, pretty bow. Now, that isn't to say I'm opposed or not interested in happy endings or neat, pretty bows! This is mostly just to reassure you that if it doesn't appear a happily-ever-after is workable, don't worry, go with it!

I love characters dealing with mortality (of their careers (facing retirement or a job transition, for ex.) or their lives (moving on, life changes, old age, etc.)). I also dig found family/families of choice, pining, minor miscommunication, undercover as married, mistaken for dating/pretend dating, enemies to lovers, enemies to friends to lovers, friends to lovers, poly/poly-v relationships, popular clichéd tropes inverted (i.e. gay for you, married in Vegas, A/B/O, soulmates/soulmate marks, etc), meet-cutes/meet-uglies, and epistolary/use of social media pastiche (use of fake texts, tweets, facebook posts, emails, and more. This is a good example of what I mean).

I like AUs too! Space/sci-fi, fantasy, spies/assassins, dystopian/zombie/apocalyptic, soulmate/soulmark/soulbond, supernatural, and superpower AUs are big loves of mine. I'm not really looking for mundane AUs this time around, such as high school/college, bakeries, coffee shops, etc. I'm not into BDSM or A/B/O AUs either.

I really enjoyed this book and the relationship that developed between Sam/Tina, as messed up as it was. What about a "deleted scene" where Quincy and Sam/Tina have a moment together. Maybe Quincy reveals to Sam/Tina she doesn't really like her life and/or doesn't really want to be with Jeff, her fiancé, and one thing leads to another. Maybe Sam/Tina manipulates Quincy into a relationship, intending to later use it against her, but has an attack of conscience.
Or, how about an AU? Quincy and Sam/Tina as space pirates, murder girlfriends, medieval princesses, witches, etc.
Or what about future fic, where we find out what happens to Sam/Tina after she accepts responsibility for Quincy's crime? Is their relationship ever the same? Does Quincy visit her in prison? What happens when Sam/Tina gets out?

Quincy Carpenter & Coop (Final Girls - Sager)

How does Quincy view Coop after the events of the book? Does she feel guilty for killing him?
Quincy and Coop have one night together, before Quincy learns the truth about Coop. How does she feel in the aftermath? Does she still care for him?
Quincy is haunted by Coop, literally, after she kills him. Is she able to help his ghost move on? Is he vengeful or regretful? Is he still obsessed with her?
Quincy and Coop exchange Christmas gifts. (Fluff, dark fluff, or no fluff at all. It's all good.)

What happens to Quincy after the novel?
The book implies Quincy might be behind the murders at Pine Cottage before revealing the true killer at the very end... What if Quincy was the killer?
What about a 5 1 (or similarly formatted) fic like five times Quincy passed on her knowledge as a Final Girl and one time someone passed knowledge on to her? Or something like that.

Tina Stone | Samantha Boyd

Sam/Tina's a complicated, somewhat tragic character. An exploration of her motivations behind assuming the identity of a "final girl" would be great.
What does Sam/Tina think of Quincy?
What is life like for Sam/Tina after the events of the book? Is she able to find a measure of peace?
What does Sam/Tina think of Coop? Why does she try to seduce him? Did she suspect him?

Coop (Final Girls - Sager)

What about scenes from the novel retold from Coop's POV?
Or a 5 1 formatted fic. Like, 5 times Coop gave Quincy a gift and 1 time she gave him one, or 5 songs that reminded Coop of Quincy and 1 song that reminded Quincy of Coop for example.

General Prompts

Gothic horror AU, set in Victorian England with Quincy as an orphan, and Coop as her creepy guardian. Sam/Tina comes to investigate and gets more than she bargained for.
Or, how about a ghost story set around the time of World War I and the influenza outbreak? Quincy and Sam/Tina are charlatans who perform séances for wealthy people, to bilk them of their fortunes. Coop is investigating them, but he has secrets of his own.
Lisa, Quincy, Sam/Tina, the real Tina, and/or Heather's thoughts on being Final Girls.
Metafiction set in the universe of the book! Articles, blogs, diaries, podcast excerpts, etc. revolving around the murders! What does the media/blogosphere/etc. look like after the events of the book and Coop's identity as the Pine Cottage killer is revealed?
Future (meta) fic! Years later, filmmakers decide to make a movie or documentary based on the Pine Cottage killings, bringing Quincy back to the scene of the crime(s). Quincy's disturbed to find out people roleplay as her and Coop, there are fansites revolving around the killings, fans perform séances at the site, etc etc etc. How does she deal with the notoriety?
What's Quincy's opinion on slasher flicks/Scream/etc.?
Epistolary fic in this fandom would be amazing.
Maybe look at obsession and how it affects all the charaacters. Quincy's obsessed with perfection/the perfect life, and denies her past to the point she can't remember who really committed the Pine Cottage massacre. Sam/Tina is obsessed with exonerating Joe to the point she inserts herself into Quincy's life to upend it. Coop, obviously, is obsessed with Quincy. How do their obsessions define them? Do any of them break free successfully?
Basically anything you can think of! I'm not terribly into Quincy/Coop but I'll read that too!

Lisa Milner, Jeff (Quincy's fiancé), Tina Boyd (the real Tina), and Heather weren't nominated but you can mention/include them if you wish.

Erik | Phantom of the Opera/Madame Giry

I'm really, really fascinated in how a relationship between Erik and Giry would go. I blame the 2004 movie for getting me started on this. The Lloyd-Webber movie seems to suggest Oedipal overtones, so feel free to incorporate that if you want. Perhaps after Christine and Raoul leave, Madame Giry swoops back in to pick up the pieces (ignoring the canon Leroux ending).
Give me something vaguely Oedipal, twisted, and tragic between Erik and Madame Giry (you can incorporate ALW movie elements here, as they leant on that relationship IIRC). The more gothic the better.
Or throw them into a gothic AU, with Giry the headmistress of a girls' school that's believed to be haunted. Giry doesn't believe the stories until she comes face to face with a living, breathing ghost.
Or go the AU route and give me a tragic soulmates AU, with Erik and Giry doomed never to be together. Maybe one of them (Giry?) rejects the bond, leaving both to suffer until Erik starts mentoring Christine. Maybe it's a soulmate mark AU, or a first words to each other AU. I'm really not too picky. It could be a tragic soulbond! (And likely will be considering the canon).
How about a twisted holiday snapshot of Madame Giry trying to give Erik a taste of Christmas?
Or Erik and Madame Giry celebrating Christmas together in Erik's lair? The creepier the better!

Christine Daaé/Raoul de Chagny

Raoul and Christine in the aftermath of the novel. How do they cope? Do they cope? I'm particularly interested in capgras and cotard delusions and how one or the other (or both?) might impact Christine after her ordeal with the Phantom.
Erik is dead! So why does Christine still hear him whispering to her at night, while she's lying in bed next to her husband Raoul?
Raoul and Christine cling onto whatever slivers of light they can find after the darkness of the opera ghost.
Raoul and Christine are constantly on the move, fearing the opera ghost will catch up with them (and not believing he's dead). How does this affect their relationship? How does this affect their child?
A realistic exploration of Raoul and Christine dealing with Christine's PTSD following the events of POTO.
Christine suffers from cotard, capgras, subjective doubles, or mirrored-self misidentification syndromes. How does this affect her relationship with Raoul, and her memories of the Phantom and her time with him?
After the events of the book/musical/etc., Christine's behavior becomes erratic (sleepwalking, speaking to someone who isn't there, etc). Are she and Raoul being haunted or is the Phantom back?

Greek mythology AU borrowing/mashing up elements of Hades/Persephone and Orpheus/Eurydice.
Modern AU. Christine is a Youtube star and Erik is a blogger who's obsessed with her.
Superhero AU (think the Tim Burton Batman movies for mood/atmosphere/aesthetics). Christine is a young, up-and-coming reporter. Erik/Phantom is a masked hero (more like anti-hero) who reluctantly comes into the spotlight after a daring rescue.

Snippets/vignettes of Christine's childhood with her father would be lovely.
Or a character study of Christine after the events of the book; how does she cope?
Future fic! An elderly Christine passes on the story of the opera ghost to her grandchildren.
Future fic set during or after WWI. Raoul has died, leaving Christine widowed with young children to care for. A mysterious person answers an ad Christine puts in the paper, offering to care for hers and Raoul's children... Is it the phantom? Or a new threat?
There are heavy Oedipal undertones throughout POTO and Christine, at times, looks at Erik as a father figure. But, at least in the Lloyd-Webber musical, she's attracted to and romantically drawn to him. Perhaps dive into this, in a character study? Maybe tie Christine's issues with her father into Erik's issues with his mother?

Madame Giry

Give me some background on Madame Giry! Maybe a snippet of life for Madame, her husband, and little Meg before Madame Giry becomes the ballet mistress at the opera house?
Or, how about some Giry POV set during POTO, with her reflecting on how she feels about Erik and/or Christine?
What was Madame Giry's life like before the opera ghost?

Erik | Phantom of the Opera

Erik has always loved passionately, obsessively. How do the targets of his affections deal with the spotlight glare of Erik's dangerous, obsessive love? (Madame Giry, Christine, Meg, The Persian, Raoul, Erik's mother.)

General Prompts

A proper sequel to POTO that isn't Love Never Dies? (Erik's canon Leroux demise would have to be hand-waved of course). Maybe Christine, Raoul, and their child move to Sweden, Great Britain, or the United States and the opera ghost follows them... or does he? Or maybe set it during/immediately after WWI and weave in the tragedy of the Great War and the influenza outbreak with POTO canon?
Modern AU with Christine as an up-and-coming country music star, Erik/Phantom as a mysterious manager, and Raoul as her singer-songwriter ex who comes back into her life.

You can incorporate un-nominated characters (like Meg, Carlotta, Piangi, etc.) and elements of other Phantom retellings if you wish!

Tragic reincarnation! Maybe they end up together in the afterlife, or Susannah never died and chose Tristan! I'd just love to see something that captures the fragility and tragedy of their relationship, but showing new facets of it.
Or what about something comparing Tristan and Susannah to Tristan and Iseult, and their tragic romance! Write me an AU where Tristan and Susannah take the love potion from the legend! Or update the legend to the time period of the movie! Whatever, I'm not picky, as long as it's super tragic.

Susannah Fincannon Ludlow/Alfred Ludlow

Why did Susannah and Alfred marry? Was it a marriage of convenience? Did she convince herself she actually loved Alfred?
Maybe write one of Susannah and Alfred's rare happy moments (with a bittersweet tinge of course).
Alfred and Susannah can't conceive, while Tristan and Isabel quickly start a family together. How does that affect them?
Susannah and Alfred's first Christmas as husband and wife doesn't go quite as they planned.

Isabel Decker Ludlow/Tristan Ludlow

Give me glimpses of Tristan and Isabel's family life together!
Or write me an AU where Isabel doesn't die, and she gets to see her children grow up.
Or write me the fic where her ghost comes back to visit Tristan and they have a tragic rekindling of their equally tragic romance! Whatever, I'm not picky!
Isabel grew up on the Ludlow homestead. She'd known Tristan almost all of her life. When did she realize she loved him? When did Tristan realize he'd moved on from Susannah (or did he)? Is Isabel jealous of Tristan and Susannah? She kind of represents Tristan's chance at normalcy before she's murdered... How does her loss shatter her family?
Or... Supernatural AU, where Isabel returns to watch over her family without being able to communicate with them.
Isabel and Tristan celebrate Christmas with Isabel Three and Samuel Decker (their children).

Susannah Fincannon Ludlow & Isabel Decker Ludlow

Isabel's known Susannah for most of her life; in fact, Susannah probably spends more time around Isabel than she does Tristan over the course of the movie. What do they think of each other? Do they view the other as a rival for Tristan's love?
Are they rivals? Friends? Sisters-in-arms? How do they feel about the other when Isabel marries the man Susannah loves? Susannah and Alfred are unable to conceive while Tristan and Isabel have two children right away; how does that affect things?
In the movie, after Isabel's murder Susannah tells Tristan she feels guilty for wanting Isabel to die. Is she haunted by Isabel (literally or figuratively)? After Susannah dies, do their ghosts commiserate over their misfortunes?
Or say Susannah lives and looks after Isabel's children after her death. Give me Susannah trying to reconcile her feelings of jealousy and regret toward Isabel by looking after her children.
Maybe Susannah and Isabel are reincarnated or come back as ghosts, or journey to a galaxy far, far away. I'm just very interested in the potential for antagonism, rivalry, rivalry-to-friendship, etc. between these two.

Tristan Ludlow & Alfred Ludlow

Tristan and Alfred's relationship, post-canon. Alfred looks after Tristan's family when Tristan is gone (I assumed Tristan disappeared for a time to avoid scrutiny for the murders). Maybe a little something with Tristan and Alfred after Tristan returns?
Or perhaps something set earlier in the movie, when they're both still vying for Susannah's love and affection, something set during the war, or something from their childhood.

Susannah Fincannon Ludlow

Susannah spends more time without Tristan than with him, it seems. Does she ever regret promising to wait for him? When she finally does decide to "move on" (if she ever really does) she chooses Tristan's brother as her husband. Was Alfred her only option? Was it an attempt to stay connected to Tristan/Tristan's family?
A character study of Susannah during her marriage to Alfred would be great too. Compare Susannah's isolation while waiting for Tristan (during the war, while he's off sailing around the world, etc.) and during her marriage to Alfred.
Or maybe a character study of Susannah and her desire for children. Is it just Tristan's children she wants? Does she want children with Alfred because of her loneliness/isolation?
Something comparing Susannah to Ophelia from Hamlet would be nice >_>
Susannah lives. Is she able to find a measure of happiness? Does she stay with Alfred? Does she leave him? Maybe Susannah divorces Alfred and sets off on her own. Does she stay in Montana or go elsewhere?
What about a snippet or scene of Susannah during her time with Col. Ludlow, while the boys are away?
What was Susannah's life like before she met Samuel?
Write me a character study of Susannah through her relationships with the Ludlow men (Samuel, Alfred, Tristan, and Colonel Ludlow). Perhaps explore the different types of love she experiences with them (infatuation/Samuel, romantic/Tristan, convenient/responsible and/or unrequited/one-sided/Alfred, and familial/Colonel Ludlow, for example).

Tristan Ludlow

Tristan and the Bear are tied up together for most of Tristan's life, and it's the Bear that eventually kills him. Perhaps five moments in Tristan's life when he felt the Bear's influence on it? Or, heck, get fantastical and give the Bear a speaking role! (No bestiality, pls.)
A character study of Tristan during his many travels.
Perhaps look at Tristan's guilt regarding the death of Samuel. Tristan was supposed to look after Samuel; how does his failure to keep Samuel safe reflect on/affect Tristan's relationship with Susannah? Did Tristan love Susannah before Samuel died, or did he become attached to/obsessed with her out of his guilt? Does he stay away from her for so long because of his guilt?

Alfred Ludlow

After the events of the movie Alfred raises Tristan's children while he's gone. What kind of stories does Alfred tell them about their father? Are they realistic stories? Tall tales? Explore storytelling as a way of keeping legacies/families/etc. alive and I'll love you forever.
Explore Alfred's rivalry with (and jealousy of) Tristan. It seems that the jealousy isn't limited to just Susannah. Alfred feels that everyone loves Tristan more, despite Tristan's perceived (and realistic) failings. How does he deal with being the eldest child but second best?

Isabel Decker Ludlow

Give me a scene from Isabel's childhood, with her parents.
Or a scene with Isabel and her children, before tragedy strikes.
Or how about Isabel as a ghost, or in the afterlife?

Tristan Ludlow/Susannah Fincannon Ludlow/Alfred Ludlow

Spin me a tale about the disastrous time Tristan, Alfred, and Susannah attempted a threesome!
Or maybe just something dealing with the trio's fraught emotions?? I'm not particularly interested in incest here, should you write a threesome, but hey. There are a lot of body parts involved and sometimes they touch accidentally.

Give me Col. Ludlow and Susannah together, while Tristan, Alfred, and Samuel are off fighting in the war. Col. Ludlow obviously grew fond of her. How did they bond?
I'd love something highlighting the relationship between the brothers (Tristan, Alfred, and Samuel), either pre-war, during the war, or perhaps something ~metaphysical~ with the three of them meeting in the afterlife. Knock yourself out!
Give me epistolary fic! How about excerpts of letters the characters wrote each other over the years? Or a selection of unsent letters Susannah wrote to the men she loved?

I couldn't nominate him, but I love Colonel Ludlow and you're more than welcome to include him. You can even include the Bear.

I'd love something that looks at the rivalry between the sisters.
Dottie and Kit don't seem to be very close at the beginning of the movie, due to busy/hectic lives. Give Dottie and Kit a moment to reconnect after the events of the movie. Maybe they reminisce over their careers.
How about a slice of life, showing Dottie and Kit growing up? Baseball seems to be Kit's passion, rather than Dottie's. How did Dottie start playing?

What about some introspection, looking at Dottie's decision to walk away from baseball. In the end, is she happy with her choice? Are she and Bob happy?
What are Dottie's feelings during the framing story of the movie (the reunion of the AAGPBL).

Give me an AU where it's the women who play in the MLB, rather than the men. Either a modern AU or set during the time period of the movie is fine. If it's a modern AU, I'd love to see Dottie as a Buster Posey type star catcher.

I had to read this book for a Brit. Lit. class and loved it. I was especially fascinated by its portrayal of Marian Halcombe. Marian's described as unattractive and yet irresistible to those around her; she remains the most popular and enduring character of the book and perhaps Collins' career. (Collins got letters from male admirers who thought she was based on a real person, asking for Marian's hand in marriage!) The book is an early example of detective fiction (that Collins is often credited with inventing) and deals with spying, surveillance, and other mystery tropes, as well as gothic fiction tropes. It's kind of a crossover/bridge between the gothic fiction of earlier generations and the sensation fiction of authors like Mary Braddon, Ellen Wood, Charles Dickens, and Collins.

I'd love something that further explores the novel's themes of sexuality, gender, and equality. Or poly (poly-v) with Marian, Walter, and Laura together and raising Laura and Walter's child?

Pastiche/epistolary format here would be *kisses fingers like Italian chef*

Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright/Laura Fairlie

As stated above, Marian/Walter/Laura is my OT3 and I'm convinced Walter is into both sisters. Give me something where the three of them live happily ever after, with Marian still doing her own thing at the same time.
Or give me a scene of their domestic life together! I'll even take OT3 porn (I'll accept minor incest with Marian and Laura, as it's hard to avoid in a threesome scenario, but I'd prefer the incest not to be the primary focus. I'm much more interested in a poly-v with Walter involved with the sisters).
You could even twist things up with an AU scenario. Transpose the three of them to a noir detective scenario or the plot of a gothic horror novel/movie!

Marian Halcombe/Walter Hartright

I also lowkey ship Marian and Walter without Laura. Maybe Marian and Walter have a night to themselves while trying to save Laura from Percival Glyde?
Maybe Walter gives Marian private art lessons that lead to more.
Despite Marian's "unattractiveness" it seems like Walter's definitely interested in her, at least in the book. Maybe there are some "deleted" scenes between Marian and Walter that didn't make it into the finished novel. (Considering parts of it are Marian's diary/letters, maybe she removed those passages, perhaps to protect Laura's feelings? Or to obfuscate the truth?)

I'll take anything that looks at the love between the sisters (especially if it's obsessive and borderline unhealthy/codependent). Implied incest/incestuous feelings are acceptable, but I'd prefer incest not to be the focus.

I'd love a pre-canon mother/son moment between Vic and Bruce Wayne. (Lou wasn't nominated, but a happy "family" moment between the three of them would be great too.
Or give me something post-book, with Vic's ghost visiting Bruce Wayne after her death. Even though Vic dies, is she still able to move between worlds?

Vic and Maggie survive and get a happy/happyish ending, with Bruce Wayne (and Lou).
Vic and Maggie meet as children in an alternate universe, and then meet again as adults. Do they remember reach other? Do they reconnect?

General Prompts

Bing wasn't a nominated character but anything with Charlie and Bing would be cool. How does Charlie think of Bing? Why does he keep him around? Bing seems incredibly dangerous; say they both survive the book. What happens to them after? Do things change or stay the same? Is Charlie able to control Bing? Would he even want to?
Or maybe give me an AU scenario with Charlie and Bing. Maybe they flip roles or they're transported to the plot of a movie. Maybe they're werewolves or marauding space pirates? What if they're a serial killing team (Rather than a supernatural serial killing team)? Knock yourself out.
I just found out Zachary Quinto will play Charlie in the TV adaptation!!!! Feel free to write ZQ as Charlie if you want!!!!!

Character death, violence and dubcon are acceptable in this fandom. Please stay away from graphic child harm and animal death of any kind, though (non-graphic/offscreen child harm and children-in-peril are okay considering the canon). Thanks!
